MY Melons grown in a screen house 2011 Hi Member! have you seen my Screen house page ? http://worldwidegiantgrowers.com/Screenhouse.html The kin caves are 28X60 2 plants in each I used to do 3 plants. but grew the 1947 with 2 in a house.Yes perilite would help.Sand will to.I added lots of sand in 2013 & 2014 like 10 yards each year.Last year I did add some perilite to my soil.Looking more for loose soil more then drainage. The sand solved my drainage problem.Plus I rented a trencher & put 2 ditches & added drain pipe 15 years ago If You need more help? Let me know I always have time for growers. Thx Bubba A recent email response member asked about this subject.I thought I should share it. Marks better half BUBBA!

Hi Mr Grower. The products worth $300 ?? Marks Mixes?? Yes they are The Root Keeper inoculation in a hydro store would be 125$ minuimum The Marks special Tea (1 gallon.would sell for $100 to $125 This is top shelf stuff.Conservatively there $200 Value alone. The products alone are worth $300 plus entry in 3 contests/Videos/seeds.Its a great deal.I think a lot of people are missing the boat. I dont buy Companion/Root shield/Mycorrhizae. No need to its in Marks Root Keeper. So you save money there. Just a little info for you. Thx Mark I have talked to a few people lately I have known for years they seem to be confused on what there getting with a Bronze Membership. So I thought I would clear that up. I changed products to make my own label.Sponsors come & go I will spend the next 20 years. If I have 20 God willing & the creek dont raise.Promoting my passion.GROWING GIANTS & Marks Mixes !!! Been busy with a new shipment & will be packing memberships this weekend while nature warms the soil up here in the north. My youngest daughter that I have referred to as the drama queen (for the past 5 years) is at the hospital looks like she may have her first baby on her 21st birthday.WOW! How cool is that? Jackson Reed & I are caring for the plants that he refers to as his.LOL He has taken ownership of the seedlings.I think Chad Gehwieler is right.Jackson might care for a plant at 4 years of age.I think he has the ambition & hand eye coordination to do it.He is the most amazing 3 year old for 3 more weeks I have ever seen. But maybe Im biased lol

Friday, April 22 View Page
I have to share this with you all.Jackson asked me how to spell Bubba. He said I can make a B.What are the other letters??I said a U and a A. He said whats a U? So I wrote Bubba on a cardboard box. This boy constantly amazes me.I wrote the 1317 He wrote BuBBa.We took the kins out of there little peat pots first day up.I put them in 1 gallon bags. Will do some more tomorrow. Will hope to plant outside before May 1st.Thats early here. If we get 3 more growers in the Giant watermelon contest there will be a growers jacket.I will combine Novice & the regular contest.Growers jacket will be done on Monday they tell me.

Planting tips for this week. After seeing Rons diary I know my dont worry about root bound theory is spot on.lol I think sometimes some old theorys are not true.I plant in 1 gallon & 2 gallon bags,No need to use 5 gallon buckets per Ron Wallace the best grower on the planet year after year.(most times on top) Get your soil temp to 60 if possible.Over 80 not really good.60s is fine. Temps in greenhouses & cold frames should not exceed 90 degrees.I like 80 to 85. Dont plant in mud & if heavy rain is expected cover planting site to keep dry. I never fertilize a transplant wait one week (root Keeper is ok)0r other mycoor/beneficial product. Shade a plant the first day after transplanting the Hot sun if over 70-80 out can fry a new plant. If you couldn't acclimate use a chair & place a brick on seat so it dont blow away . Any questions on planting?? Make sure your house is in order. Please add growing tips below for others if I missed any ?? Cold frames should be wide open both ends on sunny days. You will fry your plants over 90.They might survive but you will damage them. Please join us a WWGG for summer long growing tips Supporting new growers & setting new records Local/State/World

Bubba didnt have enough to do so we had a benefit sale this past weekend.I first met Marti in second grade when I moved to Holly in 68.The sales were good despite the crappy weather. We had snow frost & cold rain.Much worse then forecasted.Looks like the forecast this week is much better. IF there right our sale will be sunny & 70 for this weekend on the 21st of May.Thanks to all who made donations from out of State for Marti's Lyme disease in recovery.

OK! Lets put the Root Bound theory to a test.I have been watching theory's & opinions on what to plant.Big plant? little plant? This 1756 has been like some people I know in the bag for a month.lol Planted late on May 21st.Lets see what this plant does.Keep in mind this will be the like 5th year in a row planting here in this spot.So if it goes to disease issues that would be the biggest factor. If not some of the small plants are struggling to green up.This is a test.I have found talking to others that Ron & I think & agree on a lot of growing techniques.Yet some others say I dont know what I'm talking about.lol Funny how that works.Im only a 3 time State champion. What do I know??LOL Love Ron & Pap Great People!!

Meet SQUIDWARD!! 1317 Clementz liking Marks Mixes I think this maybe my biggest June 11th plant in a long time.Covered the Kin caves today will be 94 for one day. Then back to high 70s & low 80s weather is decent this year for a change.Very little rain.Only 1 inch in the past month. This year I will have the screens removable.Roll down Roll up type deal.To many cloudy weeks. So I needed a convertible.

Saturday, June 11 View Page
The screens will provide wind/hail storm damage plus 20% shade reduction to help with sun scorch. The plants have been treated for bugs.I will say this my plants wont be as pretty come labor day as they would with permanent screens.Time will tell if my new system will improve my weights???

Really loving HJ The 1756 X Squid is a great plant. This was the big root bound plant I planted later then the rest. Its leading the gang with size & potential. I cant believe how fast the plant is still moving.I will be terminating all growth in 2 days or less.I think Tom Beachys theory on a shallow root zone leading to leaf scorch is spot on.This plant had almost zero leaf scorch & was planted the deepest in the soil.

DAP 39 on the 1177 Clementz GOT ORANGE?? Dap this? Dap that? I thought that was what you do with Preparation H on a bad day.lol The weather the is summer? Everyone running around screaming 94 today. But I think its all hype. Im seeing 88 degrees wherever I go. The night temps are great 60s & low 70s.We are getting a pinch hot, 5 days of 88-90 then 3 days in the low 80s seems to be the pattern. We are getting rain once in a while. The lawns are green again after a June drought that had them $hit brindle brown.

The PIG!1756 X 1317 Jackson named it stopped growing last Friday. He said it stole all the water from the others. It was a Pig. Plant looks good. I think a svb may have infected the stem area.Next year I will be growing undercover again. We are having a sunny summer after 2 consecutive extremely cloudy years. Or maybe the heat took it out.Not 100% sure

Another 2 inches. I have really good drainage,so I dont think this will be an issue.Had 2.5 last Friday. So we had a 3 day dry out. This is why we keep the daily feeds. There should be enough nutrients in the soil to carry the kin for a wet week.I blew Agri-Fos on the plants yesterday afternoon. It was cloudy & high 70s.Very warm nights this summer.2014 was 50 degree nights.Im on pace with the 1947 just not sure if Squids shape will go the distance.Plus with the heat the plant is UGLY in comparison to the 1947 plant.Time will tell it always does.

My 1756 H/J X 1317 Clementz that went down at est 850 lbs I did retrieve seeds from this fruit> No defect in Pumpkins genectics . Just plain to hot. The two Pumpkins at the southern elevation of my raised beds both melted at 700 to 900 lbs. The Pumpkins on the north end soil is deeper down & cooler all survived.

Hi WWGG Member , No you dont have to endorse my products to win my contests.I glad you asked this question. You can still win 1st place & all paying spots growing with any ones products. What I am offering is BONUS money for exclusive grows using Marks Mixes. You can double your $500 first prize with a Bronze Membership ($300) using all 6 products any way you wish.So it would pay $1000 for first.BuTT if you do a exclusive grow you will double your double to $2000 & if you grow a WR in your category it will also get a 1,000 boost. So a WR Exclusive Squash would pay $3,000. Exclusive means you would only use my Root Keeper as your Mycorrhizae/Baccillius/Trichoderma product (no others). Marks Special Tea would be your only Amino acid foliage/drench product used. The other products Grow-Bloom-Pumpkin Power-Cal Mag.should be you only products used in there daily feedings. NOT using there equivalents in another line of growing products. You CAN use products I dont make like Azos- Cal Carb Potassium silicates etc. You must submit a exclusive testimonial to Marks Mixes to claim prize money & any seeds required by the rules to get full compensation.I will negotiate a low seed count.Low seed count is less then 125 seeds, anything higher I will expect the seeds. Thanks for asking looking forward to shaking your hand in Niagara Falls. Mark(Bubba)
