Wiz My new state of the art water tanks, It keeps the water at 78 degrees F or what ever I set the temp to. It runs off 3 solar panels so there is no power or gas consumption and I can add all my goodies by injector system. I put 1 in for each of the 4 greenhouses

Note To Wiz I'm BACK AND

Monday, July 20 View Page
First of all I need to throw out a great big thank you to Dave Stelts, Joe jutras, Pap and Ron Wallace, Gary Miller, Glenn Dixon and last but not least Cecil and Teresa for tending my plants while I was away fishing, and to Neil Anderson and his crew from RTI for looking after the nutrient feeding. You guys and gals are friggen Awesome. If you ever need a pruner just yell Did ask my buddy Jim Sherwood to join in and he answered me with: If I couldn't make the time to go fishing, I sure as you know what won't have time to prune and especially someone else's plants. somehow I can understand that. So I'm leaving again on Friday so I'll have another crew coming out. Jim Kuhn and the glaciers are heading up the next bunch. Hey Wiz you still interested in the Ocean front property in South Dakota. Need your down payment this week as there is only one lot left. Cash please

Monday, September 14 View Page
Hey Wizz is this your add I found on Craigs list. Is that your biggest?????

Tuesday, September 22 View Page
Well it's time I have to throw in the towel on the competition with the Wiz. My season started out as the best ever. I had done a bunch of changes this year and ended up with a hell of a learning curve. My biggest at the time, mid August went down followed by 3 more with what would have been an Alberta record Squash. At the end of it all I have a pumpkin and Squash left for smokie lake and Jenn has a pumpkin to take Collectively we could maybe get to 1500 lbs with the 3, so Wizzzz Best of luck buddy had a lot of fun jerking your chain this year, And remember, if you don't make the 4000 lbs we're game on next year Bitch

Monday, September 28 View Page
Hey Wizzz How much light was your pumpkin??? Seen this flying over yesterday, was this your Kin?????

Wednesday, October 7 View Page
Gary the Wizzzz Need to come clean now. I challenged you because I was cocky and wanted to kick your ass in a good old competition. Well here is what I did, Early this spring I took out 2 feet of dirt out of my greenhouses, installed 4 inch drain tile across the whole bottom, they are 18 inches apart, graded and empty into a common sump. Why?? Well I have a very high salt content and the salts leach up into me soil, this stopped that in its tracks. Secondly, the water table is high and when we get a lot of rain the ground gets saturated and takes for ever to dry out, even in the greenhouse because of the water table. BUT the biggest reason for this was to heat my ground from the bottom up. and add oxygen.

Wednesday, October 7 View Page
So this picture will show you the pipes coming up out of the ground and running to the roof of the greenhouse, Why?? Well at the transition between the black drain tile and the galvanized pipe is a fan. It is a 4Inch duct fan that blows 120 cfm. So what it does from 10 Am until 8 Pm is take the 100-120 degree air from the top of the greenhouse and blow it 2 ft underground. Best heating cables I have ever used Infact it was past good and boarding on Extreme. My ground temperature at 24 inches deep shot up to 85 degrees,

Wednesday, October 7 View Page
here's a better picture of the pipes

Wednesday, October 7 View Page
here is a picture of the fan. I used 64 of them in all 4 greenhouses

Wednesday, October 7 View Page
Now that we've ended the year with a crazy amount of issues, I have learnt a few things. Ground temperature was way too high, need to be in the mid 70's. My microbial life must have been crazy. so I need to cut back. I blew up my 1985 Miller in the beginning of August at 417 inches, I had daily gains of 70, 72, 70, 26, and Zero It weighed 12 percent light but I expected that. Next biggest issue, Third stage growth, Man I had 3rd, 4th and 5th stage growth. and on 8 plants and really being away a 1/4 of the time, I could not keep up, which lead to other issues. So next year I'm cutting back to 4 plants and going to try and do it again. This is a very good system and was the brain child of a few engineers, a soils agronomist, and a ton of input from Jim Sherwood, and Jack Larue. (yes we talked pumpkins on the fishing trips) can you believe that Next summer will be a very indepth Diary so we can share what's happening. And yes Wizz I was WAY over my head this year and may be next year too but in due course!!!!

Wednesday, October 7 View Page
Further to the above entry's, Once we had removed all the soil from the greenhouses, we replaced it all with a mix of 50% aged pete 25% loam and 25% compost. I will give a costing of all this later, and actually it was quite economical
