Hi all. I am hoping to find information as to why some of my female flowers have seeds inside of them. It's as if the inside of the pumpkin has burst into the flower. One initially grew after pollination, but is starting to rot. Any idea as to why this is happening? Can I do anything to prevent this from continuing to happen to future females? Thanks! https://photos.app.goo.gl/VdygvJxRDxn7ZPHL8

Youll have a percentage of females on every plant that will have blossum issues. The seeds in the blossum is common and you have a different photo of a very asymmetrical blossum end of another young pumpkin. The asymmetrical blossum is always gonna be a hernia in the pumpkin wall as the fruit grows. The seeds in a blossum can develop into a hernia but not always.Theres been some giant fruit grown that made it as a legal contest entry. Its mostly genetic so i wouldnt try seeds out of pumpkins grown from that plant but you can still get a good fruit. Growers have grown nice pumpkins with funky blossums because they didnt get a better candidate along that plants main vine so they rolled the dice with what was available-smetimes successfully sometimes not.Theres no sure things in giant pumpkins

I agree that under normal conditions some percentage of flowers will not develop perfectly. Could there also be a link to excess potassium/ammonium and maybe sodium or chloride even?

It should resolve itself. I wonder if your calcium might be low. If you have any insights about how your fertilizing might not be normal this please post. Maybe there is something to learn here...

My belief is seeds in the blossom are caused by stress during formation. I see more of it during cold snaps while the blossom is tiny.
