I did a test with a squash bug today. Sprayed him with bifen solution and after 10 minutes he was not dead.then sprayed him with merit and lost him. Just saying bifen may not be strong enough to kill squash bugs on contact. If anybody else has suggestions please post.

I tried Astro this year (Permethrin). That has seemed to work and hasn't caused any weirdly colored leaves like the bifenthrin.

I've cut a squash bag in half across its body and was not dead until I crushed the head.

I Have these squash bugs all over, they started coming around last year.
I had an old bottle of rotenone permetrin.
I poured a small amount in a spray bottle with water, this stuff works great once you hit um with a squirt of this mixture, they fall over with their legs up dead.
Good stuff

Serious question..When you knock them off a leaf they always play possum. Did you stick around to make sure they were dead?? I'm a second year grower and looking for something that will kill them. On contact is not what I've seen from squash bugs.

Rookie question, do these mentioned have to be direct contact with the bug to be effective or can they be sprayed on the plant. If plant application any of these safe for use around bees? Have a new hive this year and trying not to wipe it out but been fighting squash bugs more than recent years. Already lost one plant to yellow vine and looks like a 2nd starting to go downhill.

Posted a few years back, I spray with any brand of Termite & Carpenter Ant Spray. Says on the bottle safe for Flowers & Ornamental Plants/Shrubs. Kills Squash bugs, Cuke Beetles anything that moves in seconds. Make sure its dried before entering patch, Wicked Stuff! Seems to keep bugs at bay. I don't spray too much as to get it down into the soil. Good Luck

Contact pesticide doesn't mean instant death, give it some time...

Bifen must be working found a dead squash bug on top of one of my vines today, or he got a mouthful of merit. either way he had time to get taste my plant.
