What is the best systemic pesticide for those nasty vine borers. Last year I had decent success with using a propane fogged, but this year I might double down.

Don't be afraid of SVB traps, they work. Your pumpkin plant is what attracts them to your plot, not the trap.

What contact spare does everyone recommend? I'm also trying to stay ahead of svb this year.

I use imidacloprid systemic, dust the stump and main vine with Eight. If I see an adult vine borer, I spray with the Ortho Max bifenthrin. I haven't had a borer problem in several years. Cucumber beetles were another story last year. I used 7 different insecticides, they would knock them down for a couple days, then they would be back like a green cloud.
