I just found some damage on a couple of leaves that I have never had in my patch before. Searching this site, I found a photo that is identical to the affected leaves in my patch. Is this bacterial wilt?

None of the leaves on my plants are actually wilting, but do have cucumber beetle despite using both contact and systemic insecticides.

Going to try the sap test right now.

Thank you to anybody who can help me identify this problem. I'm really hoping I can get some viable seed from my 881 Dill x 2230 Wallace cross and this is one of the plants that is affected.

Thanks, Don. We did have some hot and sunny days here when these leaves were very tender and I got a nasty sunburn myself. This put a good scare in me- it seems like it has been a bad year for cucumber beetles all over the east coast.

I went ahead and did the sap test on a couple of leaves just to be sure- no evidence of bacterial wilt.

Definitely sunscald. Another indicator for this effect: the 3rd or 4th leaf from the tip of the vine (counting the leaves which are already in the process of opening) seems to be the most sensitive one. Hence, it seems to happen to leaves of a particular age, whereas the older leaves don´t care about the too much sunshine and the younger leaves seem to be protected well enough by their dense hairy surface.

I still have yet to see a single cucumber beetle over here on the eastern side of the state! Not to complain but it's like, too quiet. Makes me worry but not sure what about. Good luck!

I'm about to order some of that Bifenthrin that you use, Jim. I have used a combination of Sevin and Triazicide with noticeable affect, but there seems to be a percentage of the population that is resistant.
