I've seen it before. Probably just an underdeveloped seed. It will probably set it back a couple days, but most of the time they're normal plants.

I have had this happen too and agree with Andy. Cots will be gnarly as they grow out and growth of the first leaf a bit slower (and sometimes goofy shaped also). Second leaf should really start to normalize.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate your expertise. I don’t mind a slow start as long as it keeps growing. A good reminder to always have back up plants for the unexpected just incase.

Hough, agreed. Started my backup a couple days ago when my go to plants were on day 8. Hope the one pictured works out for you.

I have had many like that. I believe that condition might be an indication of something not quite right in the germination stage. Usually it is Too hot or too wet for the particular seed . I don't worry about it. once the seed germinates and I have life. I consider my goal to be met. I can take it from there. In a few short weeks an ugly seedling will be long forgotten.
