This will be my first real try at growing bushel gourds. Do the gourds have tap roots at the leaf nodes like the giant pumpkins or can I put down weed barrier down to control the weeds?

i grew mine on weed barrier and they did not root at the nodes. i was told they do root but probally only on soil.
