               can a pumpkin with a soft stem be weighed as a solid fruit or will it be damaged the fruit  itself is solid just a soft spot on stem thanks

               So long as there is not a hole entering into the pumpkin cavity you are good.

               Jed, if its real soft , rotten and stinky just cut it off to where it meets your pumpkins skin, then put a little bleach and water to it.  As long as there isn't a hole going into the cavity your fine. I have seen many pumpkins with out stems before at weigh offs , ether they was broken off while lifting or they rotted off, if you get the rotten stem part off your pumpkin  your pumpkin will last alot longer as well.
