Just posted this in my diary; I happen to be growing giant aubergines this year, but just as applicable to your favourite giant tomato. So I thought I’d share here too. :)

A 3D scan using an iPhone of my aubergine and a trial of an app called Polycam. There are other apps too, without the fee.

But it was just such an awesomely funky shape i didn’t think pictures did it justice!

I don't know what the end file sized produced was, but it uploaded/used about 148MB of pictures (about 120 pictures) as the raw material. You uploaded them, and then it processed them and hosted the finished file in the cloud.

Some of the tomatoes I took pictures of, it got so confusing... because from different angles it looked like totally different tomatoes. I was just thinking that it would take something like this to stitch them together & really make sense of the pictures. Congrats thats a big one, I tried to grow those once!

I tried playing with it. I haven't figured out yet how to get a measurement all the way around. I like the horns on it. At least that is what the protrusions reminded me of. I do not know what you call them. This is a product of growing that I think that has not been seen much on this website. Hope to see more Doug.
