My early tomato is between a rock and a hard place. Looking like I will have to cut off a branch that has three of the largest leaves. I counted the leaves and it looks like doing so will reduce the plant by ten percent. I wonder if that will reduce the tomato weight. Any advice? And new guys keep this in mind when doing your early prunning and create space for that volleyball we all want. I think this has been my biggest or perhaps just dumbest mistake so far this year.

Make sure when choosing a blossom that it will have sufficient space to grow.

Is this the one under the shanty?...it looks really good...I would do everything to just bend leaf branches out of the way other than cut them but if you need room you need room.

I read somewhere that it takes ten leaves to support a tomato.

It probably tales ten leaves to support a 20 lb pumpkin... I dont know about tomatoes but I hope you are right marv. My guess would be three leaves per pound for tomatoes.

Yeah . . . its been ten days since I posted a pic of it. I guess the good news is its growing and it could still be a personal best.
