This practice has to stop. How many have lost megas due to messing around just for a picture it is not worth it. They are very fragile at this stage. If you want a pic turn your phone not the blossum. Every year I hear of megas being lost due to messing with them. To all the new growers just don't.

I agree. In my pics i put my fingers and hands nearby just for size reference. I used to pull off the old petals and spent parts but don't anymore. I'm thinking a lot of the "blossom end rot" is actually your tomato catching something from your grubby fingers!

sometimes you just have to lick the stigmas to get the pollen to stick though.

I take two shots of calcium nitrate before licking my stigmas to avoid blossom end rot

I thought the thing now for young folks was eating/swallowing Tide pods not calcium nitrate. Maybe the Tide is for getting the bad language out of their mouths that they use nowadays.

I lost a couple big megablooms last year from trying to look at them. At least that's what I blamed it on. This year I'm not touching the bloom at all & I got my 1st 3 megablooms started without a problem. Now I just got to get them to grow to 10#s. LOL.
