Marv.

On top of Brush Mountain, Pa.

Hello. I am here. I was going to take a pass this year but I guess I will give it a go. I would like to be paired up with say Dan S. and Boudyo if at all possible. Otherwise I will go with whoever you team me up with. I would have liked my team mates from last year but I am seeing that is not possible. So, it matters not who I get. The best I have been able to grow is a 6.51 pound Delicious in 2011. Since then I would like to think "hard luck" has held me back. Give me whoever nobody else wants and we will call our team the "misfits" or the "unlikelys". I am going to try to influence people to go organic. My team mates will receive a copy of my outdated tomato book and some new ideas I have been working on which our team will reveal to no one, at least until next year. Also I have been looking at soil a lot and will go over my team's soil tests and give them thoughts on amendments and nutrients. There will be three books they will need to read besides mine. They will also get advice on ACT, Brix readings and soil conductivity. They need to be willing to spend a couple of hundred dollars on amendments and diagnostic tools or not. If there are some female growers, I'd like them on my team. They tend to take things more seriously. And, probably will be more aggressive. I can't wait to see who my team members will be.

If I was in the team challenge..the one I would want on my team is Marv. I dont think anyone here has worked harder over the winter than the writer of the best book for growing giant tomatoes. I have seen some of what he has compiled already. Is another printed volume of up to date info in the works or is there going to be all on the web. I truly commend you Marv for your efforts and that you willingness to share your knowledge with the less experienced. I will certainly try to help you in your endeavers..as little as my input would be. Thank you for your efforts for the future.

Thanks for the quick reply Austin, we miss your fun outlook on growing. When you get everything situated...come on back. California is still behind Minnesota. You should see what I learned from indoor grow store over the winter.....probably not next winter but the winter after....I need a strong challenger....can Ca grow stores advise better than Mn. Keep smiling, you are welcome here.

I walk into my grow store...they have me listed for store credit as GiantTomato.com. Last winter...they had lots of giant tomatoes growing. I think they finished second in the winter competition. If you can pick a store in California to compete against my store in Minnesota...it could be fun. We don't have to do anything right now...but 25 years of indoor grow experience is hard to compete with.
