Looking at the current watermelon weights and results, I noticed a few big ones already listed as DMG. What are the common DMG issues with melons? Mostly a soft spot?

Correct, rotten spots on the bottom, or blossom end issues causing rot. Those are your most common

The hot humid weather down south and in the Midwest is probably cooking them all. It's hard to keep one on the vine when the melons are old and not doing much. Plus throw in rain, intense heat and humidity and you got a recipe for soft spots!
