Hi watermelon growers.
I was searching through my collection of old seeds for someone and stumbled across two 239 Leonard watermelon seeds. I know it is too late this year to plant them but would like to see them grown as I believe it is a pretty nice seed.

John, I didn't think there was a single one left! That seed really stood out as a great one. Since that time it is hard to say if any other seed has stood so clearly above the rest. I have always wondered why that is so with the melons. I call them silver bullet seeds.

It is easy to pick out silver bullet seeds with the AG's. In my opinion it is an easy progression to see. something like this 1068, 1385, 1725,2009, 2145. I would love to hear if any melon growers out there see a genetic progression in our seed lines.

Big moon, two silver bullet watermelon seeds that I can think of right now are Chris’s 302 and Frank’s 199.5

I agree Charles. Isn't the 302 a 239 X self? I think that is what I remember.

I know the 199.5 grew Frank's 305 and both have done very well. The 305 is certainly a sought after seed.
My pb is 3/4 239 and 1/4 255 tracing the genetics back.

Big Moon, in my opinion it has to be the 302! It seems like Chris grows a 300+ lb melon every time he grows that seed and several other growers have grown huge melons from that seed as well. Three of the top 4 melons grown last year had the 302 in the cross and it has been in the cross of the biggest melon grown each year since 2016. Just to mention a few, Chris Kent, Frank Mudd, Todd Dawson, Andrew Vial, and Jeremy Lindley have all grown huge melons with the 302!

Thanks Jeremy....so looking at the GPC info page Chris grew two 251's in 2014. One was the great 239 Leonard X 316 Edwards.

The other was 316 Edwards(Traditional WR) X 350 Kent(World Record).

No matter which plant grew the 302 what a family tree!!

Sure would like those seeds. Sure would like a shot at growing them....sure been on my list of all time seeds I would love to plant.....sure would love to see them in my patch....sure would greatly compensate you for them....sure would give a beautiful green crispy $100 bill for the both......sure once again love to see them grow....awesome seeds if you grew them good luck an hope they grow huge.......would also put in you would receive 1/4 of the seeds from the melon also....
