            | Pumpkin miner | Manitowoc | What's the right way to start watermelon seeds? Pre soak or not? File edges? Anything like starting a pumpkin? | 4/29/2018 8:55:47 AM |

            | ESheel31(team sLamMer) | Eastern Shore of VA | You can soak and file.I do not.
Some folks use a egg incubator.
I start mine in an old cooler with a heat mat.
At 95 degrees they will pop in about 2-3 days.

            | Pumpkin miner | Manitowoc | thanks slammer I'm going to give watermelon a try this year. I'm also attempting grafting a Carolina cross scion to a giant pumpkin root stalk. I read about the successes of that in a1927 report I found. That's going to be my side experiment this year . but not the competition watermelon seed | 4/30/2018 7:12:19 PM |

            | ESheel31(team sLamMer) | Eastern Shore of VA | I would use something different for a rootstock.Bushel gourd seems to be popular.
Read up on the grafting posts.

            | Pumpkin miner | Manitowoc | I've read some good success stories using bushel gourds. Like I said though its going to be my science experiment this year so. I'll video and document along the way and keep everyone posted on whether success of not. | 5/1/2018 1:24:54 PM |

            | Pumpkin miner | Manitowoc | If its successful and it grows great if not I'll try other root stalks. It's for science lol | 5/1/2018 1:26:50 PM |
