I am growing three different watermelon plants in a hoop house and must cull one of the plants. Two of the plants are producing flowers but the third has not. However the third plant is growing much faster than the other two, has bigger leaves, bigger vines and a bigger secondary. I have no idea which plants will produce a bigger melon and am wondering if I should be concerned that the large plant has not flowered?

Keep one of each. The fast growing one and one producing flowers. The more plant the bigger the melon. Or so they say, Im no expert.

I think you cannot make a CC plant produce melons. They seem to put on melons just whenever they are ready to. The beautiful pollinated melon I showed a picture of in my growers diary last Sunday got so ugly I was compelled to cut it off. But I have found some other prospects. I am still hoping to be competitive. :o)

The health of the base of the plant should also be used in selecting the better plant.
