I guess less is the safer bet, but I was noticing how plump the blackberries got after a day of steady rain. I guess a plump blackberry or tomato might equal a split pumpkin, but maybe not. Curious what folks have tried, or are trying?

I always try to water heavy on my tomatoes the day before I want to pick. Does it work? Who knows. I suppose same could be theoretically true of pumpkins. I really can't see it hurting the fruit those last few days when they're only doing 5 pounds a day

I tried simulating nature "making the blackberries extra plump" basically misting some tomato plants for the 24 hrs before picking. Not sure if it worked... I need to be able to make better measurements. But I dont think they absorbed as much moisture as the blackberries. If the plants are getting watered and/or dew on them at night it may be that they are already fully hydrated .
