What do I need to know about growing on a secondary as compared to the main. Both my ideal pumpkins on the main aborted, I have a dap 5 at about 30ft on the main but the secondaries right behind it aren't growing well due to heat and sun. I have a nice DAP 10 on a secondary that's 13ft out from the stump then about 8ft out that secondary. The secondary only goes about 4ft past the pumpkin. Should I terminate it right after the pumpkin or try to grow some tertiaries off it past the pumpkin? The plant seems to be growing well now and is about 800 sq ft with plenty of room to keep growing. I'm hoping a good pumpkin is still possible on the secondary but want to optimize as much as I can.

If you can grow out that secondary after the pumpkin do it versus terminating at the fruit.
