Is there a reliable soil test kit that is available online or at a nursery that anyone can recommend?

The lack of responses is probably your answer. For $50 or less you can send in a sample to a lab that will do it correctly. However, don’t forget that your test results will only be as good as your sample. To collect a sample which will give you accurate results read the instructions for sampling on the web site of the lab you will be using. I use Western Labs in Parma, ID.

I can recommend against using the Luster leaf/ rapitest products for garden soil, I think those are more for potted plants. They could be handy to troubleshoot an extreme Npk or ph problem, but in my opinion, you need to know the micronutrients every bit as much as the macronutrients.
