I know these plants can be a bit squirrely at the beginning, and this one seems to have done that. Advice as far as what to do with this mess at the node here?

Using imgur because the diary hasn't been publishing my posts for some reason.

Anyways, at one node I have 2 leaves and 4 secondaries. One secondary is seemingly favored (the bigger one). Should I cull the other 3 secondaries and just leave the large one? Should I also take the leaf that has grown underneath the main vine? It is one of the healthier leaves at this point, so I've been hesitant to do anything with it yet. Last picture on the post shows my plant. I think it has outgrown the wildness now. The main is about 3' now.

Thanks.

The big one pointing strait up and the next one pointing strait up should be pruned. When theyre not sticking out sideways theyll kink or worse yet tear a rip in the side/top of the main vine as they try to lay down. The two pointing out to the side can be kept.

If the vine is flat... not round...it's a ribbon vine. It keep doing what it's doing, it will be impossible to make any turns in it. does it have two tips? can't tell by the picture. if it does pinch one. WAit for the big guys to respond...I've had them and the sooner you let one vine go the better control you will have.
