Henry,soil disease is one of the hardest obstacles to overcome. I have talked with growers that have fought one thing or another for a decade in their patch. You have so much desire, I think you will solve this. Keep studying, and learning as much about it as you can. I wish I still had your energy. You can get it done. I hope to see a really big PB from your 1911 this year.

That is tough, have been there myself, just didn't have a pumpkin get that big. Plants going great and then they die in a few days. I pulled the plants, planted radish for the fall. Then gave it the mustard treatment followed by radish again. Plants healthy all year. Just something to try.

Bummer Henry,,,,:( Talk to Woody about what he does for this disease. I bet you could of kept it away a bit longer.

WE work so hard and to have this disease year after year gets so discouraging.

The there's guys like Rick J that never deal with disease. How he gets around it I'll never know!

What, I think Rick J has fought disease for along time. Read some of his posts about the effects of roundup and disease. Maybe he wll chime in. There are some very good growers that I think are struggling trying to overcome this. Last year, I chatted with Kevin Marsh at a weighoff in South Dakota. He took first place but is still trying to eradicate it.The extents he has gone to overcome it is impressive. Joe Ailts has spent many years, to break the pattern. Last year he had success. The best growers do not give up...they just keep looking for a solution. Giant pumpkin growing is not easy.

You might want to email Joe Ailts to see what he put in his patch last year to finally rid it of disease. He grew an HDA pumpkin last year.
