How many are using other media as their diary site or to talk pumpkins with other growers as their main source.
Are some of the growers you do not see lately on this site using other media or just not growing?

For the most part I just do Facebook now. O keep all pumpkin related things public so anyone can see what's going on in the Cooper Patch. -Brett Cooper

Same here Porkchop, I only am on bp.com. However I have thought about gettting a facebook account as it seems a lot of the melon growers are over there now. Not sure I want to deal with a facebook account.

Ken D is a good guy and I trust and respect the way he runs this site. I can't say the same about facebook.

Just BP.com and twitter for me. I like to tweet pics and weights of the pumpkins at the weigh offs we attend.

All my searches for pumpkin info and answers to my questions starts here. I woukdnt post a diary if I didnt trust bp and all of you... Top growers who want to share their season on here are an awesome inspiration... even if its just the pictures...

My default is BP.
I joined Facebook recently and there’s a Backyard Giant Pumpkin Group that I peruse occasionally.
My wife generally posts pics of our kin’s on FB.
I don’t know what Pumpkin chat is. Is it something different?

I find the whole Social Media thing interesting, while there are good posts happening on there, I feel it is good if people post somewhere else such as BP. Some people forget not everyone is on FB.

The future of places like Facebook could change rapidly, and when they do people could lose a lot of information.

I am not growing this year but I usually double post everything on Here for my Pumpkin Friends and everything on face book for my other friends. The Concept of this site is great but frankly the lack of user friendliness is pretty annoying. The Site was literally created in the last century and hasn't been updated since. Its a dinosaur. It would be pretty easy to update the user interface and make things operate more smoothly. better search functions, chat functions, private message functions etc. This site generates enough traffic that it could easily pay for itself and then some if set up correctly.

I only use this site. Should everyone migrate to social media, i will continue to grow just in solitude. Social media is not for me. Looks like I am not the only one. If you want it all,I think you might have to use social media and the website base. I am a dinosaur, not going to change.

I really appreciate the guys double posting...and I’m not knocking Facebook or other platforms...I’m just staying away because I’d get totally sucked in...that and the wife won’t let me join...says I’d get lynched before too long

The reason I asked this is it seemed to me like there was less interaction on this site this past winter and spring. Pumpkin chat did not look to be as active as past years and when you dig up old posts from even a couple of years ago, one wonders where the regulars went. Not good to lose knowledge.

I promised you guys a break from me I know its overdue!!! So yeah I'll chill out for a bit. I wont be doing the winter tomato. So sorry for posting too much and driving anyone away! I'll catch you on the flip side--next year-- when I have something exciting to share. I am overworked and grouchy. But I wish you all the best!!!

Take care, Glenoma! You looked 10% light or so at the weigh-off, get some rest and a steak and taters or something before Next Year shows up!

There was Too Much Information on FB the last time I was on there, although I do miss hearing from some peeps on there. I spose that's what the phone is for, lol!

I do - /ColoradoGiants It is super easy to whip out the cell phone, snap a picture and type in whatever I want to say via the app. I enjoy getting onto BP from time to time but posting requires me to sit at a computer and all that jazz. Gotta stay on the move.
