Must be on a certified scale.

No Has to be in front of judges that inspect the pumpkin at a GPC event

If you don’t take it and you weigh it on a non competitive stage.. aka tripod with inline scale you can call it an unofficial weight... or uow ... I weigh mine before we go to a weigh off but they all hit a scale at a weigh off.. for the official weight

Whats your definition of official weight?

I dont think the gpc has that or wants to have that option. But it might be good to have such results listed. Maybe along with the independent weigh off results. You can enter your pumpkin data on the pumkinfanatic site. I mark my unofficial pumpkins as uow or est... depending if I used my scale or just guessed. It doesnt bother me to not have an official weight. Sounds like you have a nice pumpkin it might be worth getting an official weight.

... If there was an official entry process it would probably have to come with a small fee to the gpc because quite simply... they do need a budget. Pumpkins is probably their only bread and butter. The little veggies are fun but I will venture to guess... pumpkins is what (barely...?)pays the bills.

Sorry, not true baitman. A certified scale and a Weighoff is all you need for an official weight.

I thought it had to be a GPC sanctioned weighoff

Ok ,so if it weighed on certified scales anywhere, its official, but for any recognition from the GPC it has to be at a GPC weighoff

I’m going to the Saanich Fair on Sunday with pumpkin entered in the Giant Pumpkin Contest. Vancouver Islands biggest Agricultural Fair.

Scale, judges, prizes, ribbons, just not GPC. Wizzy will still congratulate me if I win.

The GPC wouldn’t recognize pumpkins not weighed at a GPC site when I contending for the GPC Green Jacket. I had to attend 3 different GPC sanctioned weigh off sites in order for my weight to be validated.

If you just want to have an official weight of your pumpkin then a certified scale is all you need. If you want a GPC recognized official weight then you need to go to a weigh off.

Unless you are thinking you are going to break a record there is really no need for an "official weight" The reason to go to weigh offs is to share the fruits of your labor with others, show off your Pumpkin and possibly win a little prize money.

If the only reason you are taking it to a weigh off is to get an official weight I don't know why you would bother.
