Wondering who keeps records of
1) everything they do in the patch,
2) spotty records (like a bp diary) or
3) no effort to record anything at all (maybe your memory is quite good / sufficient)

I am a number 2. Some people would say thats true...lol. But seriously... I think I need to be a #1. You'd think 300 posts would be plenty of record keeping, but beyond 2-3 weeks back I cant remember what I did on what day or what I applied where.

I have a spreadsheet telling me when I've applied certain things. I have to otherwise I'd never remember and some things you can only apply once a month or whatever.
On another spreadsheet I have a graph that plots weight vs DAP.

No time for log books here i read and feed and watch my past videos. But really if i'm being honest i just steal ideas from other successful growers. That is why i love the diaries! I read through everyone's diary probably many times!

I used to keep amazing notes and then laziness set in this year haven’t wrote anything down my growing partner set fruit and didn’t write it down...lol ... nor did I... lol ... everything is selfed which I think helps the laziness factor this year.. however I do know when to do things and what to do and how to use them ... along the way... so I guess good enough is good enough this year... more important is to have fun and enjoy this amazing hobby.., and the friends made along the way... oh sorry for taking over your thread... grow baby grow..

I use the calender on my computer for events like using chemicals and DAP, but use a google doc to keep track of more seasonnal times like arrival of insects,temperature, signs of disease

I'd say we are #3. We've been growing for over 25 years. I use to write things down, but over time I stopped as growing habits & techniques have changed some a over those many years. Now I just follow my instincts & just keep track of dates & measurements of the kin over the course of the growing season.
Also, we haven't taken a soil test in over 2 years. We have found over those many years that we always needed to add the same amount of certain nutrients each spring to bring our levels up to where we wanted them. Now we only do a couple tissue tests throughout the season to make sure the plant isn't missing anything that might hinder it's growth rates.

I have a calendar that I write in every day . I keep track of the temps , rainfall ,feeding , spraying and anything to do with my day in the patch. I think it helps to look back and see what you do and the effects good or bad.

I use excel to keep track of everything from soil prep, to daily ferts to watering. I also use excel for my daily measurements and have come up with some formulas using ratios from OTT to predict the circumference needed for a target goal depending on the shape of the pkn. Plotting growth curves is fun too.

The diary is a good photo resource for me. I have a bunch of google sheets that I use for other details like measurements. This year I am also tracking pollination, feeding, and spraying schedule.
