Pchop, I’ve got a herniated disk, been laid up for over weeks now. My poor plants are dying to get in the garden. I had nothing tilled till this morning. My brother Kevin and a good friend of mine Robert came and helped out.

I tore my ACL and meniscus March 4 but I’m still out there hitting it hard. Wisely waiting till October to get the needed surgery. I’ve got some poor years to make up for and I can’t be down and out when we finally are due for some good weather this year.

I am a walking wounded too. 2+ years ago I had ankle surgery to reattach all the tendons in one of my ankles. A lifetime of ankle sprains ripped them all off. Now I am relearning how to walk and balance myself.

I pulled a tendon off the bone in my ankle on a hard sprain few years back... like everyone else, I stubbornly waited far too long to get it fixed.

Take it easy this year Pork chop, if it's easy, take it twice!

New improved Titanium hip for me on Feb. 6th. LOL this board is like the walking wounded. Have not been able to rototill the patch yet hoping a good friend is going to journey up today to help out as the Pumpkins need to get in. Tomatoes are sounding better and better to grow this year.

I’m not down about it....Just sayin..there’s some sweet patches set-up out there..mine looks like a cripple prepped it...no doubt the gardens will be purty this year...it’ll just take a little more time..you guys give me inspiration...except Ned , I’ve seen his xrays..he don’t even need a shovel

Sounds like there are bunch of gimpy growers posting here. I would list my ailments, but I don't want it to look like I'm bragging. At least I have a 27 year old helper to get things done.

2 heart attacks in 2001. Torn meniscus repaired in 2011. Triple bypass in 2014.....hell as long as the beer is cold I'm just happy to be on this side of the grass.

Thanks Porkchop. We both just love to garden and are happy to be able to do it. I had an open book hip fracture in 2001 and lost the use of my legs for awhile. Moving hurts but I love to have the privilege to do so!

Busted up back in 1999. Had several disks fused together in 2000. Have needed a cane to walk with for the past 15 years. Pain can be controlled somewhat with meds, but I can't do any of the harder work anymore. Thank god my wife Jane really loves to garden as well or we wouldn't still be in this crazy hobby. It takes a lot of hard work to be competitive in this sport, so having a partner you can depend on is very important, especially for this old crippled fart. I'm more the brains behind the operation now. LOL.
