Seed starting varies here depending on soil temps and weather. With heating cables around the 4/15 without around 4/20. Plant seeds in gallon containers so I can hold them back a day or two if needed. About 1/3 of the time I will hit frost when digging in the cables in around April 1st.

Wow seriously Mike April 1! I figured you guys would have snow on the ground. My greenhouse has been getting to about 80 degrees during the day so the soil temperature should be good when I put the plants in the ground around April 14.

Let’s try this again lol:
Nothing beats a mid June pollination... you’re playing with fire outdoors here if trying to pollinate in July. Literally! But then again a late or cold spring can show up bringing growth to a stall in early May. I’ll be watching

I’m getting started much earlier this year than my first previous 3 years. With the early cold temperatures in the far northern part of North Dakota it’s a must. I have cold spring time temps to deal with but I feel my 10X10 hoop houses will do just fine with a little ingenuity. I’m going with between 4/10 and 4/15. I’m shooting for Pollination between 6/15 and 6/20. Which will put me approximately 2 weeks earlier than last year. I wish the best of luck to all Growers this year. For me it’s not coming soon enough.
