1.    Plants must be grown from year 2003 or older seed
2.    $20 buy-in per plant, any number of plants
3.    No limit on number of seeds started (for example, a grower can buy in for 2 plants and start any number of seeds to fill those two spots)
4.    Deadline for entry will be by postmark Monday, April 1, 2019
5.    1st place winner will take 70% of the pot, 2nd place will take 20%, 3rd place will take 10%
6.    Pumpkins must have an official weight to be eligible for winnings
7.    A grower can place only once for winnings- there will be 3 different prize winners- unless there are fewer than 3 growers in contention at the end, in which case, the winner will receive a 75% payout and runner up will receive 25% or the sole winner (only pumpkin with an official weight) will receive 100%
8.    Entry fee is to be mailed to Nic Welty by the deadline stated above

I wish all growers the best of luck! Let's have some fun with this!

Thank you for stepping up to do this, Nic! I bet you grow a new personal best from your old 730 Barber line.

Yeah, maybe soon there'll be a whole page devoted to everyone's prospective choices, such as in my case an 869.5 Calai '98 and a 977 Anderson '97...

Whereby, here's an actual question:
Is there to be any criteria pertaining to the grower of, the popularity of (has it ever been heard of, weighed officially) or the original source of the seed(s) (yours or someone else's)?
I'd 99% grow only another's seeds for this contest, but:

Example: if i have my OWN seed from '02 that has never been any of the above, it it valid for the contest?
Perhaps a picture of the jar the seeds are in would be needed?

I know, above are the final rules, but this may come up later, so, now might be better---no pressure---eg

I have a pretty good collection of pre-2003 seeds we have collected from California growers. Email me if there is something you are looking for and I'll see if we have it.

If I had enough left to give out, maybe, but was just thinking about winning this thing. Probably should not have thought out loud.

Regarding Eric’s question- there is no restriction on seed selection other than the age of the seed. Eric was making a lot of nice crosses back in the early 2000’s. I’m sure he has one or two of his own seeds in mind.

I have three 752 Blair 2003 Seed Outlet Certified if anyone would like them. Email me your address and I'll send them.
I grew this multiple times and it was always the best performer in the patch.

if I send you all the 798s I find, will you plant them all this spring?

I suppose I could set something up with paypal
I was really thinking old school, just a jar with $20s stuffed in it awaiting the weighoff season
if getting paypal involved is a big deal for participation, let me know

SmallTown, Shoot me an email if you need older seeds, I have plenty unless you are specifically going after the 798. pumpkinguru@gmail.com Actually have some up in seed exchange right now under the crazy seed trade entry.
