I'm going to be on vacation for the last part of April and the first week of May. I'm growing for the fair which is in early August, so I need to get the plants in the ground ASAP.

I want to start the seeds in the grow bags right before I leave (19th of April) and plant them when I get back (May 8th). I know they would probably get a little root bound, but what is everyone's thoughts on keeping the plants in the bags that long? I'll have help to be able to move lights up, give a touch of water, etc.

Thanks!

I would plant them ASAP. And put in the ground as soon as you know what direction it's going to grow. I will be starting mine April 15th for an end of September weigh off. Yours will have a lot of missed potential being cut early August.

Ron Wallace says not to worry about root bound plants. If it's good enough for Ron, it's good enough for me. You should be fine.

I use two gallon pails(cut and duct taped together).Theyre ready in 19 to 21 days-not sure how big your grow bags are

Doesn't help to put them out early unless you can keep the soil temps elevated

Thanks for all the input. Just trying to get my ducks in a row before we go on vacation.

Wayne-I was planning on using 2 gallon grow bags, but I also wondered if I should bump it up to 3 gallon. Thanks again for replies!
