I got a little carried away with the seed auctions...lol. I have enough room for 4 plants. I've narrowed it down to these seeds. I need to make the list shorter. If you had these seeds what 4 would you grow.
2075.5 Connolly (1961 Sperry X 2230.5 Wallace)
1944 Connolly (2230 Wallace X 2145 )
1649.5 Connolly (1790.5 Wallace X 2230 Wallace)
1503.5 Connolly (2145 McMullen X 2230.5 Wallace)
1910 Tobeck (2230.5 × 1625.5 Gantner)
1795.5 McCracken (2145 McMullen × 1625.5 Gantner)
1961.5 Sperry (1775.5 Sperry X 2009 Wallace )
1824 Shenoha ( 2145 McMullen X 2230 Wallace )

The proven seeds are pricy. Bubba I've got my fingers and toes crossed I win the 2145 in your membership seed draw!

Agreed bubba, unless you've got lots of room for multiple plants, unproven seeds is a big risk. Best of luck, they are all amazing crosses from great pumpkins and growers. For me, I always grow proven seeds now.

All are promising crosses but I like the 1944 and 1824 a lot.

You don't need a proven seed , but I like any thing with the Gantner genetics , 1910 / 1795

I'm trying to get a handle on the genitics part. When you are choosing an unproven seed should you be more concerned about the genes from the pumpkin the seed came from or the pollinator or both?

I like them all. I think they all could be the next 2145.Problem is only so much time & space. What I would need to know is what did the male pollinator do on each cross? Did the male pollinator plant have a premium spot in the garden? or a back burner location? Were these the top seeds for the region? I know the weather plays a huge role. The last 2 unproven seeds I planted spanked me real hard. The 2323 Meijer wouldn't set fruit. The Mathison fishing contest seed kinda flopped but did great for Karl. Its anybody's guess which one to grow.I would do the 2075-1910-1795-1824 if I had to pick. I did plant the 2145 last year. I gave it a back burner spot & the wood chucks half killed it. Hind sight being 20/20. I would have revived the plant & let it grow.Oh Well!

When looking at unproven I try to find a set just like the Connolly seeds. I can locate results from 5 that he weighed in this past year. I have to assume they all had the same care. The 2075 was his largest and pollinated by his second largest. Regardless of pedigree mathematically it would be my #1 pick. For the opposite reason I personally would not choose 1944 and 1503 because that particular 2145 produced one of the smaller ones in his patch.

Not sure which but if you look at pumpcon diary the smaller ones were grown at a different location than the big ones. Pretty sure anyway

I agree with Gene, he took a unproven seed the 1756 and went 2145... that unproven seed was taken to 2600+... So with that being said I wouldn't be scared to grow any of them...

I think (2075 X 1795) would be a great cross. You would combine BIG with HEAVY. Dave summed it up pretty well for the 2075. The 1795 is 75% 1625 Gantner. 1795 was +17% and the pollinator grew 1198 +22.8%.
