Hi, my peace Lilly plant is rotting at the bottom, the leaves have been dropping, I thought it was a water problem so I gave it a little water, the leaves, went a little up about 6 days ago the day after I waterd, then they went right back down, I discovered major brown rotting at the bottom of the stalk, I posted a pic on diary take a look, it's very frustrating because every plant I get I can't keep it alIve for a simple month!!. Is there any way to save the plant and get it back alive so the leaves are up again, they are getting wrinkling and brown every day, some still look good but in about 1 week the plant will probably be dead, I am just wondering if there is any way I can' save it,

Thanks

Looks like it's very wet, gently pull it out of the pot and see if the roots are rotted. If not put back in some new dirt. When you water them check soil before you do make sure it's not getting over watered.

I had the same issue many years ago Henry from over watering in Winter. Like Rick said, I pulled it out, removed the rot, cut it back and planted it in new soil. It took a while but it did come back.

Henry, in the best of my limited amount of humor? I hope Donkin don't read this?!!! and in my humble opinion, if leaves are failing on an indoor plant, this time of year...prbly too much instead of not enough water! Pull it and look! Peace, Wayne

I agree usually too much water is the killer, if it's in a very cool location that can help encourage the rot too when combined with the wet.

Ok, thanks I cut the rotted part out and I am going to plant it in a new pot tommorow, there is some new growth on it so maybe I'll get it to come back, i was watering it too much before I think, I got another plant today, I read more up on it and it needs to be moist, every ten days I will water it, I think I will have better luck, and I will keep it moist not wet

They will start to droop when needing water. I wait till then, I dont let it go too far, but it perks back up.
