I have the rare opportunity to grow in two states. I live on the Oklahoma/Texas border. Not exactly great pumpkin territory. Texas record 660, Oklahoma 880. Last year without knowing what I was doing I got one to 500lbs. Hopefully with what I have learned from everyone here, I can break one or both state records in 2017.

Does anyone see any trouble with this? I would legitimately grow one in each state. How could I prove which pumpkin was grown in which location? will anyone even ask?

many growers will take their pumpkins to many different states but they still say where they grew it. you can not take any one pumpkin to two weigh offs. if you go to two different weigh offs you must use two different pumpkins.

if you grew a pumpkin in Oklahoma and weigh it in texas, the weight will still be recorded for Oklahoma, not texas. you can't grow in Oklahoma and get the texas record.

You need another grower to see your patches during the season and maybe do a diary.

I agree with Joe. If your have a diary with pictures of each pumpkin, and where it's grown, that will be helpful. You will also need a credible witness as well. I don't know if there are rules regarding this situation. A good question.

I was thinking diary. And maybe do some big and orange genetics in my texas location so it wouldn't be hard to prove from the diary

Very cool. You could name one plant Longhorn and the other Sooner, and make the state line between the plants with walking boards. Many ideas... and what a unique situation.

Haha thats funny, they're actually about 5 mile apart. We do have a golf course where you tee off in texas and the hole is in oklahoma. Or so they tell me

I would notify the county extension agent from the patch/state it was grown in and have him stop by before you remove one from the patch. Also if not taking it to a GPC weigh off you could have the extension agent present at weighing to have a official witness
