Well one more hurdle has been encountered but its easily fixable, now that I understand the laws and requirements.
I have sent a big bundle of seeds to be tested and this morning I received an email with some clarifications.
I sent single, double, triple etc etc seeds per envelope and wanted to determine which would be removed to be tested, After receipt of the email I now understand the testing method.
All envelopes with multiples can be tested, if I sent 2 seeds in an envelope, one will be tested, if I send 3 seeds in an envelope only 1 will be tested up to 5 seeds only 1 will be tested. So we are testing the limited amount of multiples. Next go around, I will send 5, 10, 15 of each and 1 out of 5 will be tested to make up the 20%.
All seed envelopes with single seeds will be returned to me. LOL Some of these seeds will now have made the trip twice. Very well travelled to say the least

It is with regret that I need to inform you that I am unable to progress your consignment.

As previously advised, I need 20% of the seed, to undertake the virus testing.

Approx. 110 packets you have sent, have only 1 seed present. This one seed would be required to be used for the virus testing. Therefore, you will have no seed left.

These packets I would return to you.

I have made representation to our Biosecurity policy section, to try and negotiate an alternate solution. However, the import conditions are clear and must be met. The virus testing is an integral part of these conditions, to protect Australian agricultural and horticultural industries.

Approx. 40 packets have more than 1 seed.

(19pkts x 2 seeds, 7pkts x 3 seeds, 12pkts x 4 seeds, 2pkts x 5 seeds)

We could use one seed out of each of those lines, which we would blend, and satisfy the 20% requirement. On the understanding that if the test came back positive for any virus, all the lines would deemed unacceptable and the balance of the seed returned to you.

However, this will deplete the amount of seed you have available to supply to your clients.

Please consider the above and let me know if you wish to proceed with the limited virus testing or return all the seed to you.

If you are able to propose a solution, that would meet our import conditions, please feel free to discuss.

I do have to say, This Alainia is without a doubt the absolute best with helping with this, rather than saying no and drop it completely as almost any other government employee would do she always asks for ideas and helps in resolutions
