I have a stump that is 75% gone due to rot despite a fan and being cut open to drain. It continues to fill with water. Kin has not grown in 2 weeks. should I cut the main vine right after the stump or leave it. it's not entirely rotted through but its not supplying much and the stop in growth coincides with the stump rotting.

Cut the main right after the stump and check the Inside of the main for any signs of rot. The inside should look healthy with some green color if it doesn't cut another 12 inch section off and check again until you find the inside of the main the last cut you made looking healthy. If you don't look for where the main looks healthy the rot inside the main will travel to your pumpkin stem and start to rot the Inside of the stem which eventually will start to rot the inside of your pumpkin. Goodluck.
