I noticed this morning that the main vine just past the pumpkin is dripping from an old leaf node where I cut a leaf off quite awhile ago. It healed over nicely, but did form quite a knot there. Today I see it dripping, but it doesn't seem to be soft or have any rot. Is there likely rot on the inside? Should I just cut it off and let the older part of the plant from the stump to the pumpkin feed the kin?
This year has me firmly believing in beginners luck. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Lost 3 plants because of this. My remaining plants I caught in time. I have been pulling dirt away from vine, spraying with peroxide, adding sulphur and a fan seems to be saving them so far. Definitely want to dry it up

Thanks man. This part is up in the air due to height of pumpkin. I scraped what I could, peroxide, sulfur, and fan this morning.
I just wonder if being that close to the pumpkin if its better to cut it off completely so it doesn't spread to the pumpkin stem.

Dan, cut it off if it is close to the pumpkin. Its better to avoid potential yellow vine disease. If you have Companion Biological Fungicide, I would brush it on with an old toothbrush or spare soft paint brush and let it dry.

slice very thin pieces off a little at a time to get rid of the rot, by doing this you will be able to determine how far the rot goes. if it was cut off not long ago, there is a good chance it may just be on the surface. then do what pcaspers said to do. make sure the sun can shine on it. it will help. keep it dry!!!!!
