Sad to see,so much work down the drain.I'm guessing around 10 to 12 year old culprit judging from the weak slashes.

Very sorry baitman. Unbelievable. Baitmans pumpkin was on track to smash his personal best. That is always in the back of my mind as my patch is close to a road as a lot of our patches are.
Very sad.

I would be ready to do the same treatment to the perpetrators that they did to my pumpkin. There is not justification for this. I am expecting the same thing from my community garden pumpkin. It is right on the bike path with hundreds of people going by it everyday. It only takes one sick individual to ruin a season.

My condolences Baitman. I started a new patch this year in clear view of the country highway I live on. I have a few melon plants, and a throw-away 1138 seedling (should have been) in that patch, nothing that will take any prizes, but I suspect the rowdy elements in our rural area won't be able to contain their nature! Time will tell. This will be small potatoes compared to what we have had stolen in the past. Hopes and prayer the punks meet karma real soon!

I too feel sad for you. We have been experiencing a lot of theft and serious vandalism in our garden plots. I know a number of people had some nasty comments on here directed at my son, Christopher, when he expressed his anger over the people we found had done the deeds. Pretty sad to express one's anger and then find out later that actual fellow gardeners witnessed the events and said and did nothing!! I am at least relieved to see those of you expressing kind words to this person and support. We are just new growers and trying to learn too, so with the hard work it was really discouraging to loose our pumpkins and giant watermelons to thieves and vandals. Hopefully, you will find some restitution.

I still have one hidden away that is smaller.

I just wish these pricks knew the work it takes day in and day out to grow one. There are no taking breaks in growing and some SOB ends that in 5 seconds. Very sorry to see.
