My biggest kin on my 1725 was doing between 24-35 lbs a day for a week , now it seems my daily gains have dropped to 10-15 lbs, plant looks fine leaves and vine look fine. Could over or under watering cause this, I do have a little snot leaking at the bottom of the stem but no hole. I sulfered and put a fan on it and I came back again this morn. any advice less water possibly? It has been extremely hot upper 80 to 90s all week and between 78- low 80s at night....any info would be great thanks!!

Check the stump really well. Feel the underside for any soft spots. It could possibly be starting to fill with water/ getting ready to blow, into the dreaded foamer. Hopefully im wrong. Check the main vine all the way to the fruit. Do the same, feel the entire vine for any soft areas. Good luck.

noticed this afternoon there was a soft spot on the second secondary and all the leaves wilted, I cut off all leaves and used peroxide then sufler has a lot of plant behind it should I maybe just remove the whole side vine? the main looks good, I sulfered and have a fan on the the under stem no holes but leaking a little again

But I did loose my 5 plants this year with too much heavy rain...so maybe dont listen to me! sounds like overwatering and the roots are pumping and filling the leaf stalks causing rot

Upper 80s and low 90s is perfect weather here, it's the 100s and humidity that'll shut the plant down. I'd really watch your water and keep even.

I found this thread the other day and it is some good late season advice from Stevens.

I've got the same thing going on one of mine Cory. I think the hail damage I got slowed her down. It sucks when you put so much time into it, but don't give up. Sounds like you are doing all the right things.

Dont give up on her. I lost a day 23 pumpkin, 1797 Checkon in early July. Let one get self pollinated on a seconday, a skinny seconday. I lost the stump last week and half the plant ! , and today i was extremely surprised that it is putting on 35 lbs a day. Blew my mind. I think its day 26 now and sitting atound 350 lbs.
So, do what you think is necessary, but keep as much healthy plant as you can. These genects can really surprize you.
