Late pollinations but good genetics. Want to keep main to produce..but want first secondary..vine buried..with good rooting for other good genetics..can I cut it near the main and not worry about the main.

I dont think you can grow a pumpkin on just a secondary that's not connected to the main,if that's what you mean, not enough plant to support it,in less you have a lot of tertiary growth

You sure can if secondary has descent rooting.Ive grown quite a few fruit on clones/cuttings which is virtually the same set up
