to the vine.
Is this doable without breaking the pumpkin off?

I should mention right now my pumpkin is growing vertical and has not laid down yet.

Thanks
I was going to try blocking the pumpkin with some wooden stakes to force it to lay down perpendicular.

Id personally wait till day 10 the stem has a little more play to it. Had one this year, on a plant i cut short to give better growers more room grow, go way side wise over the course of 4 days looks normal.

There are no take backs when dealing with positioning and stems. Slow is key, I had one snap on me 6 years ago and I still remember the dreaded sound.

Let it lay down on its own. Move it over in warm part of day. Some you can move when their young some are better moved when their close to two weeks old. Some vines are easy to work with some are scary tight. That sound that luke talked about has happened to all of us.Its a learning process.

Always move the pumpkin when its warm not in am when it will snap. I use sand the keep it from sliding back. Takes 3 days if you have a feel for the vine. Dave

Until the pumpkin is 30 inches circ I would recommend focusing your attention on moving the vine, not the pumpkin. During the hot part of the day as mentioned above.

In the past I just let the pumpkin grow even if they crushed the vine or not.

NO need to rush it into position, the bigger it gets the easier it will be to position. Make sure the vine has some slack in it before adjusting.

No slack in the vine at all.
Spells trouble?

Yes that is a problem. Did you pull the tap roots up around the pumpkin so it's not pinned to the ground?

The yellow one is not the one I am worried about.
I covered that with sand until I could cover the break in the line with tape to keep the bugs out.
The one one I guess I need to rip up the main vine and break the tap roots.

Its the green pumpkin in my growers diary I am worried about.
Sorry for the confusion.
The vine is not buried but has definitely put down tap roots.

Snip the tap roots at the fruit...eventually u may have to snip more...the vine needs to be able to rise some with the pumpkin...

It turns out the yellow one is in a bad position and disaster is looming unless I can move it
