Hey, I had a nice KIN going on till yesterday...Maybe it will be O.K. I want thought. First the plant is big but the wind blew it on it's side and two areas of vine are split on the top side. Second, part of stem is huge: it is not round but shaped like a big measuring tape case. It the stem has 3 stems growing in it...like a 3 barreled shotgun. Also it was infested with Squash Bugs. I sprayed the entire plant upside and down. Then I walked away. Does anyone think I have big problems? Thanks John Hoepfner

Ribbon vine is not ideal... I had one last year that grew out of it...turned back to normal after a few feet... Then I cut the rest...Yes cover the splits in the vine ...good luck

Hoepfner, ribbon vine is as it sounds, it's when your vine is very flat like a ribbon. Often everything that grows off the vine get doubles. Double leaves, double tendrils, and maybe even double vines and blossoms.

Hey thanks. What do I cover the slits with? Soil? Can I spray the slits with bug control (MSP) stuff? John

I had one do the same on a squash plant last year...it grew back to normal after a few feet...it wasn't a plant I took care of other than spraying for bugs and fungus...ended up 876lbs...I'm pretty sure it could have hit 1000 if I fed it a few times..Depends what is big to you....1000 lbs will always be "big " to me so , yes...you can still get a big one if the plant is healthy...good luck Fluffy!!!!
