I have a lot of vines that will grow past the fence and into the grass. Most are 10 to 12 feet or more. What problem would I have if I terminate now?

How long is the main? Do you have a growing pattern in mind such as a Christmas tree? Any pollinated fruits?

I found your diary from November 1st, 2015, but not a diary for this year. Are you using the same plot shown in the past diary and if so, I would let the vines go to the full limits of the plot. If no limits at the fence, let the vines move past. If you really want to terminate the vines, try to do it with the longest secondaries to encourage the others to catch up. Allow the vines you want to terminate to grow past the point you plan to terminate so, the vine will already be in contact with the ground then make your cut and bury the end. Hope this helps.

I am a new grower, but everything I've read say to terminate anywhere from 8'-15'. Personally, most of mine are terminated already, mainly because of space. Mine range from 8' to about 12'. I have a couple more that are over 12' now, but not terminated yet. I would terminate what you have to due to space. I'm sure someone else will have a more educated opinion on the others

I let the back vines get to the end of the growing area then point them parallel to the main for a few more feet. I terminate the rest when I run out of room. I try to keep the main and a few others growing up to the end of the season. The old leaves will fizzle out and I think it helps to keep a fresh photosynthesis system going. No proof it works, just what I do.

Biddy there's definitely a diary for this year. all mains are 25 to 30 feet right now christmas tree was the pattern but they have exceeded the length of the area and have been turned to go where there is room. all side vines are 12 feet or more.

If you have a set on the main at day 20 or more I would terminate everything over the next 5 days.
