I have recently seen some small soft white spots on my son's young plant, it is 9 feet. This got me fooled a little even growing for a long time. Seems too early for powdery mildew, it rubs right off of the leave when I rub on it. So, can pm rub off? I always thought it would not. I'll spray the plant, but just curious on if pm comes off when rubbed. Thanks, Jim

it kind of reminds me of a hard water stain like calcium build up, it's weird. Probably our great city water:) But, does anyone know if pm comes off? It's not fuzzy looking.

I know one way to find out if it's powdery mildew is cut a leaf off, drive it over to Vince's,, wipe it on one of his leaves then wait a couple days. If it's powdery mildew it will transfer to his plant and you'll be able to see it. If nothing happens,, you'll know it's just hard water deposits.

Maybe your son is spraying leaves with milk and didn't tell you. It almost sounds like water spots from dew and maybe some dust. Not sure. Maybe spray leaves with sulpher mix just in case. Someone else maybe has a better remedy thats not as invasive. The milk is a good prevention beleive it or not. Works for me but leaves white spots on the leaves.

with both of my boys in the patch, anything is possible :-D Andrew keeps throwing all sorts of things into our water barrel hehehe. I kind of think he might of thrown something in there that leaves a stain on the leaves.

Jim, I just went out back to check. I have a zucchini plant that has a little PM on it and it doesn't rub off. So I would say you have something else on your plant.
