Having the Sunday morning coffee and wasting time on the computer- I looked at KMumford diary and see she posted a picture comparison of how her plants this year were harmed by mushroom compost. For those of you who don't know, mushroom compost can be high in salts. You need to let it set and cure or rinse in the rain for a few months before applying any large quantities, or that's my opinion. I learned the hard way on some blueberries years ago. There are salt tolerant plants, Halophytes, and salt intolerant plants ,non-halophytes. The heath family in particular, Ericaceae, rhodos azaleas, blueberries etc, are very non salt tolerant. I have to be careful because we mulch with seaweed a lot. Tomatoes seem to like it. Hope this helps. Michael
Here's a good article I found http://aciar.gov.au/files/node/2275/mn050_part_5_pdf_19541.pdf

My neighbor applied a bunch to their garden this year and they say that all their plants are very dismal and not doing well.
