What do y'all choose, shape and growth rate or vine location?

For the most part Shape is dependent on genetics. Got a pic of mom? Chances are this generation will be somewhat similar.

I've never kept a side vine - esp close to the stump. Heard they will grow fast initially but won't have it where it counts in the later season.

So your only decent shaped one (non torpedo) is on a secondary close to the stump? I'd let them both grow out a bit and see if the one on the main will make it. I've had them start ugly and fill out.

Sometimes the ugly ones weigh up really well. They are hard to tape when they have flab every where though. I am talking about pumpkins. lol

I have more starting down the vine but just hated the idea of getting rid of my only for sure "round" pumpkin due to location. I will add pictures of my yamkins tomorrow
