When would you back off on the fertilizers when its time to pollinate? A week before the anticipated pollination? And what's the average pumpkin set down the main ? I usually set mine around 12 to 15 ft but I will have one just short of 10 ft . Not sure if that's far enough down the vine ....

Some big pumpkins have been grown at 9 feet.
You could let it grow there and see if you get another one further down the vine?

I have always wondered that if you are fertilizing properly that you shouldnt have to back off any time. Slow and steady wins the race.
