Say you started tomrw...how big ya think it could get by the middle of october?... Assuming it stayed fairly healthy?..500?... I gave seeds to a guy, who gave them to a guy(the town dr)...I told him to have the doc get ahold of me and I would help with a planting hole...he never called..well, I snuck a peek at his garden...plants don't look right...I've never met the guy but want to see him succeed .. It's his dream...he held the town record at 260lbs for 20 yrs..(til I started)...lol...ol' doc Moore ...I'm wondering if it's worth it to start another plant for him with a proper planting hole...plants stunted bad ..tiny leaves,4' long loaded with blossoms...female at 3'...

last year i grew 710 ounds with an august pollination. Starting this late probably could still get a pumpkin that most newbies could be hapoy with but the time is running out.

My first time growing, I direct seeded store bought seeds, They didn't sprout so I tilled them and then they sprouted on July 4. By Labor day the cucumber beetles shut it down and it still made 176# in October. So 500 or 600 is a reasonable goal with good seeds, fertility and care.
