Forget personal bests, state and country records and all that. I think I speak for many and in particular orange growers to say that 1000-1300 pounds on one or two orange pumpkins will do it fo me. Another thing for me is to complete the master grower competition with 5 entries intact of any size. My bigger dreams are the icing on a cake I can only hope to have In any size at the end of the season.

And it doesn't have to be size, weight or anything related to growing Giants. It could be a family moment, a stranger who looks in awe, or trying to grow something new to you, etc. so what will make this a satisfying season for you?

Deal With It

Since I'm down to just one of my three pumpkin plants, I'll go with 600 pounds for that, and 200 pounds for a melon. After all, this is Oklahoma.

Having my 4 yr old grandson by my side working on the plants and pumpkins. He's a great worker and really has an interest helping. So, it doesn't matter to me if I get one to a weigh off or get over 1000#, but the time with my grandson is priceless !!!!

I just really like being able to grow. My goals were higher at the beginning of the year dreaming of a year without difficulties. As reality sets in the goal goes lower and lower. By fall I should be quite close to matching the goal of the moment. Whatever happens as long as I am enjoying myself and have my health i am satisfied.

First time growing in 5 years.... 1000lbs would be awesome, but I will be happy if I have a sound fruit to bring to Altoona and viable seed from my unique 881 Dill, 713 Kurkowski, 859 Mombert, 492 Handy, and 546* Welty crosses.

I put a lot of work into getting the patch ready this year. I'm hoping for at least 2 over 1000#, and one of them at least 1300#. I'm also hoping to break 100# field pumpkin, 150# watermelon and 140# long gourd.

800 would be great in my shaded yard. Weather has been decent so we will see.

Just shooting for a PB. I'm thinking beating my 1st year's best of 480.5 should be achievable.

I'm down to one competition plant(with a backup), down from a planned two competition spots. So I need to be realistic here. I'm hoping for a Howard Dill award contender, as I think the genetics are there(603.5 Muller 03 X self). It would be nice to get one over 800 lbs. with nice shape and color. I haven't taken a pumpkin to a weighoff since 2012, so I hope I will break that streak. My personal best is 1041 lbs. from 2007(off the 603.5 Muller), so beating that would be quite nice.

1500 lbs would make all the hard work worth it ,i have one big plant this year, should be pollanting this weekend ,the plant threw out twins ,like the one in 2012 ,so iam thinking its a sign of good things to come ,lol , iam at the best part of growing these monsters ,iam satisfied watching them grow from the size of a quarter to huge .

Honestly I want a world record. I'll settle for a personal best, but I want a world record. Color is irrelevant to me.
