just wondering what some people like to see for a 20 DAP
measurement? I lost my old pumpkin journal, so cant remember if I'm in good shape or not. I know that day 30 is a lot better indicator of growth, but I'm just curios what people expect at this stage.
Thanks

1400 Lb pacer shows a benchmark OTT of 182 at day 20 with a low of 163 and a high of 201 1700 lbers had an OTT at day 20 as high as 210 and as low as 170. I think more importantly is that you are doing 10+ OTT per day and maintain that or close to that for as long as possible. I know some folks have a lot more data to gather ranges from but this is what I got, maybe they will chime in with some heavier pumpkins 20 day numbers

Don't sweat it. I had the smallest Day 20's ever last year and both went on to be my largest ever grown.

I was going to cull a fruit because of the small size at day 20 last year. I ended up keeping it and ended up 300 pound bigger than my personal best. So does size matter?? Only when it hits the scale.

Also depends where you live, here in BC we are pretty happy with a day 20 circumference of 50"-70". By day 30, around here if you are not at 100"-130" in circumference, you will have a tough time reaching over 1000 lbs by October.

pumpkins are a lot like race horses
some run out front and die in the stretch
some run out front to the finish
some close and come outta no where
some never close at all
some run so fast they break
some run like they are in a sack race.
some like it wet
some dont really care they run anywhere

it all depends on the pumpkin gods, your nutrition and health programs and ----mother nature

Thank everyone,
This is the time of year I drive myself crazy.
I want it so bad, like most I'm sure.
I broke the state record in 2012, and haven't got one to the finish since then. I have learned so much since then, but seem to get bad luck with 110 plus temps. I will never give up, but will try to relax,
thanks

cozy we don't get big numbers at day20 at elevation like the Midwest can . You have to keep a log and compare to your past #'s. Hope youre getting through this hot spell Ok

LOVE that analogy Pap - probably one of the best I've heard.

I do enjoy reading your replies & thank you for sharing your advice over the years. Wonderful perspective from a veteran grower!

Last year my 1552 Bobier was only 114 ott on day 20. I cracked the main on the next leaf so I was stuck with it. It ended up 410 ott and weighed 1499.5

My wife has a shirt that states , My Husband's Pumpkin is Bigger than your Husband's. Does this answer your question?
