I have a nice looking 5 lobe fruit I pollinated yesterday on my largest secondary. My plant is a bit of a jumbled mess due to direct seeding and the original inclination of the plant being toward a quick dead end into concrete blocks at the edge of my raised bed. So I circled the plant around. Anyway the fruit is inclined toward the stump and has no room to grow there. Is it feasible to cross this fruit over the vine and have it grow on the opposite side from which it would naturally fall ?

That sounds like a precarious position that both you and the fruit are in. Crossing back over that vine will likely result in a brisk snap. Would it be possible to pollinate another gal a bit further out on the main vine? If so, I would continue to position that vine to your liking. Remember, any vine moves should be done in small increments and during the warmest part of the day when possible. Good luck!

I did it one year when my last pollination attempt put me up against a wall. (literally) You can flip it over but like BD said, take it slow and support it with styrofoam or something else while its small, the pumpkin will never know the difference. If you can sacrifice the leaves near the kin, it will make things easier but if you got any other options, take them.

Thanks for the advice guys. It is still early and the plant has lots of females on it. So I will attempt the switch, knowing that this is just one of several possibilities. I do have another female on the main that will blossom in a few short days and that may indeed be the best route to go.If the crossover works well I will go by which pumpkin is making the best weight gains.

I was thinking Katlyn jenner type thoughts here. Did you just call spudley a fruit?
