just thought that i would post this. I just compiled some date one 3 of the "top" seeds in my oppinion. I compiled the data from the top 100 pumpkins grown baised off of the gpc site. so here's what I got.
2009 Wallace: Official number grown in top 100: 8. average of 2009's grown in the top 100: 1624.75 lbs. If you where to include the 2328 dmg. then the average weight would be 1702.8888... lbs.
220 DeBacco: number grown in top 100: 2. average weight: 1739.5. It is true that their are only 2 pumpkins to go off of in the top 100, but baised off of this data i think that the 220 has great genetics and further potential. 1495 Stelts: Grown in the top 100: 6. average weight: 1590.333... lbs.
Summary: I would have to say that the 220 and 2009 would be some good choices if you have one, or could get one. If you did not know I used the 1495 more as a marker to compare the other 2 with. The data from the 1495 was recorded from this year. I hope you guys found this post helpful!

Here's something interesting. Here is the data from the 1725 as of last year since almost no one grew one this year.
1725 Harp: number grown:7. Average weight: 1648.78 lbs.

almost no one grew a 1725 Harp this year??? Found 9 of them on the 2013 GPC list (just for comparison, there are also 9 of the 220 DeBacco on the 2013 GPC list), but none of the 1725 made it into the top 100 actually.

No worries abou that, I just found it much more interesting to see that out of 9 pumpkins off the 1725 Harp and 9 pumpkins off the 220 DeBacco in the same year two off the 220 made it into the top 100 whereas none of the 1725 did.

no question about it,stats are the life blood of our hobby.
most all of our decisions reguarding what to plant are derived from statistics however, its as important to remember that each growers soil, weather and methods play a very important roll in the final outcome of that seed.

As pap said, there is a lot that goes into looking at these stats. I like to look at what a particular seed did in a patch when compared to other seeds in the same patch. The 220.3 Debacco I grew this year that produced the 1734.5 far outperformed everything else in my patch, nothing else was even close. I think Joe Werner would tell you the same thing about his 1779 and Chris Stevens with his 1783. Those are just some local examples. I think the same thing was true of the 2009 Wallace. While Ron and pap grew some unbelievable pumpkins in 2012, the 2009 was the best of the best when compared to other great seeds grown in that same patc, grown in the same conditions. Just my 2 pennies.

Scott just curious I know you said you thought that you did not push the 220 to its full potential do to some grower erer and weather issues...how many more pound do you think it would have got or how much bigger?
I got hit by hail end of Aug the year I brought my 926 and you weighed your 1450...I still think I could have gotten another 200-400 pounds if not for hail
